La blogosfera ha estado haciendo mucho revuelo en torno a que Kevin Rose (CEO de Digg) twiteara que Google estaba preparando su version de una red social para atacar frontalmente a Facebook.
No sabemos si Google realmente esta tratando de aniquilar a Orkut (cuyos problemas de seguridad son realmente tristes), y ni siquiera si este proyecto sea una realidad. Pero Eric Schmidt (CEO de Google) no lo ha negado. Y las afirmaciones de Adam D’Angelo, fundador de Quora tampoco ayudan a que pensemos que sea una farsa.
Parece que Google incluso esta usando focus groups para entender la mejor forma de desarrollar algo llamado “Google Me”.
Segun Techcrunch, Google ha estado pidiendo a algunas personas que participen en una encuesta corta para verificar su eligibilidad para un “estudio de usabilidad” con Google. Y da la impresion que esto se realizara en la oficina de la compania en Dubin, Irlanda. De acuerdo a la encuesta, la duracion del estudio es de 60 minutos, y los participantes recibiran 60 Euros. Y como era de esperarse todos esos participantes deberan firmar un Acuerdo de Confidencialidad (NDA) y permitir que Google grabe la sesion.
Las preguntas de la encuesta giran en torno a las rede sociales tanto offline como online. Y desvelan mucho de la estrategia que Google podria estar siguiendo para la construccion de este nuevo servicio.
Es interesante para mi, porque no soy muy amigo de los focus groups, por los casos e historias que demuestran las verdaderas impresiones de los asistentes a la sesiones. No se si la compania esta confiando solamente en el focus group, o es parte de una mezcla de herramientas de feedback. Porque, teniendo ese ejercito de fans que les defienden a capa y espada, seria un desperdicio usar el feedback de sus mas core fans y core evangelists.
